About Wairau Brakes
A family owned business, Wairau Brake and Automotive Services was originally opened in Sunnybrae Road by Frank Duck way back in 1974.
Some years later in 1995, Frank passed over the reins to Richard Stanaway and Wairau Brake & Automotive Services was known around the Shore as the “GO TO” place for brake and clutch repairs.
Fast Forward to 2019, Richard retired and Stu Fox took over as owner at Parity Place, Hillcrest.
In 2021, we expanded and relocated to our current premises in Vega Place, Rosdale.
The business has since expanded to include all facets of brake work including full brake caliper repairs & making brake hoses on site. We have a full Mechanical workshop that carries out all repairs and diagnostics. We also do Warrant of Fitness for both Motorcycles and Cars.

Stu has worked in the Automotive industry for over 25 years.
Involved in motorsport since an early age, Stu assisted with setup and repairs to Midgets at Western Springs in his youth and later on began participating in 2Kcup racing and also assisting fellow racers.
His previous roles over the years in automotive workshops, breakdown work, parts sales and as a battery specialist have given Stu a broad & unique range of knowledge.
Stu keeps up to date with all the latest technology and techniques to ensure we can carry out all work to the highest quality standard.
Allan is a very experienced technician, having previously owned and run his own Automotive workshop with experience across a wide range of new and older vehicles and has been WOF Authorised for over 20 years.
He’s always had a passion for cars, owning a large number of hobby cars over the years, Some of which are now considered classics. Whether it’s rebuilding engines, fabricating exhausts and trailers or tuning a four barrel carb on a V8 he is always up for a challenge. A keen motorsport enthusiast and competitor, he’s helped many fellow drivers with car setup and modifications.
With a range of customers over the years, Allan’s experience covers from your basic daily driver to some pretty exotic cars from Bentleys to Ferrari’s to Godzilla Skylines. With Allan looking after your vehicle you know you are getting a first class job.
Brad has been in the parts industry for a large part of his life and has some incredible skills when it comes to specialised work, such as bearing pressing, driveline repairs and diagnosis, brake caliper and master cylinder rebuilds just to name a few.
Brad will often think outside the square to find a solution, to what seems impossible to others. He is very well renowned for his excellent parts knowledge and ability to locate hard to find parts.
Brad enjoys time out on water and a spot of fishing.
